The Guardian reporting that a source from 10 Downing Street, speaking after David Cameron’s announcement that he will visit a food bank in his constituency, said food banks were to be welcomed as an example of “the big society”. She added: “Benefit levels are set at a level where people can afford to eat. If people have short-term shortages, where they feel they need a bit of extra food, then of course food banks are the right place for that. But benefits are not set at such a low level that people can’t eat.”

The Trussell Trust, the UK’s leading food bank distribution charity, estimates that in the year 2011-12 food banks fed 128,687 people in the UK and it forecasts that will rise to more than 230,000 during this year.

Stupid man! Most of the people we issue food vouchers to don’t have any benefits due to delays and incompetencies within the departments!

Proof, if any were needed, that No10 really is occupied by “arrogant posh boys who don’t know the price of a pint of milk”. How anyone can afford to eat, pay their heating bills, their bedroom tax, their travel costs to “jobseeking activities” etc, etc, etc, all on £71.00/week is a mystery to me
