Check out Staffordshire University’s welfare reform event, taking place on Thursday 25 April 2013 -

21st Century Welfare & Work: Advisers’ Workshop.

The event will be on Thursday 25 April 2013, 10.00am to 4.00pm. It will be an opportunity for advisers to discuss the Coalition government’s changes, first set out in ‘21st Century Welfare’ (2010), including the introduction of Universal Credit, changes to disability and incapacity benefits, and the impact of changes to rights at work. These will be considered in the plenary sessions and the day’s two workshops. Participants will have access to pre-event updates and briefings, and materials on the day.

Venue - The Ashley Conference Centre, Staffordshire University (3 mins walk from Stoke-on-Trent station, and close to Jn. 15, M6. Parking next to the centre).

Format and Briefings - After the Chair’s ‘welcome’ and overview, speakers from advice organisations and specialists will introduce key topics ahead of the workshops.  Pre-event access to briefings and materials, and up-to-date sources informing the reforms (including any developments in 2013 ahead of the workshop), will assist the discussions.

Who should attend? Advisers in advice organisations, lawyers, trade union officers, academics, researchers, and others with interests in welfare and employment rights.
