The RNIB Group is collecting evidence of the treatment of blind and partially sighted people under the Work Capability Assessment, especially looking at what the outcomes have been since April 2012 when the Assessment was revised through the implementation of the new regulations.

Please could advisors or centres contact us by July 20th if they are able to respond with answers to the following questions?

1) what evidence is there that the number of appeals and successful appeals has risen since the new regulations implemented in April 2011 enshrined the results of the DWP 2008 internal review?

2) does trends in appeal cases link to the poor interpretation of specific descriptors e.g. communication and/or navigation?

3) do you have any accounts of either decision makers or tribunal rulings highlighting specific inadequacies?

4) do you have evidence of particular aspects of our client’s experiences or situations that are being ignored?

Thank you for any assistance that you are able to offer us. Please forward your findings/comments to Stephanie Cheddie, email: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
