Lords amendment on ‘bedroom tax’ overturned in Commons
The House of Commons has voted, by 316 to 263, to overturn the House of Lords amendment to the Welfare Reform Bill 2011 exempting certain social housing tenants - those not required to seek work, carers, people with disabilities, war widows and foster carers - from the reduction in housing benefit due to underoccupying where those people had no more than one spare room and no suitable accommodation was available.
What a surprise.
