Sanctions

Hi,

If a claimant is sanctioned by JSA (i.e 2 weeks for not looking for work) is the claimants HB / CTB also sanctioned. I have looked at P1086 in CPAG and am confused.

No, loss of HB only applies to benefit offences, i.e. benefit fraud, etc.  Jobseekers sanctions for not following a jobseeker’s direction, leaving a job without good cause, etc, only affect JSA.

But in my experience HB may stop and need to be ‘reclaimed’ as JCP will inform the LA that JSA has ceased via “the rat”.
