Writing an update for local agencies on the risks of many disabled people suddenly losing their Severe Disability Premium (SDP) in means tested benefits from next year, due to changes to underlying Carers Allowance for their Carers.

I could do with some help and confirmation that my worries are well founded.

Please feel free to add / take away to the info below to get a full picture, thanks.

Situations when claimants SDP could be lost due to the Carers benefits changing:

•  Removing ESA (CB) for WRG from April or after 12 months, underlying Carers Allowance become payable?

•  Many on ESA (CB) and in the WRG will have an ESA (IR) top up now (Due to the value of the Carer Premium) to
the existing ESA (CB) part, they will get ESA (IR) only after April so Carers Allowance becomes payable?

•  Transfer from IB / SDA to ESA (CB) who fail medical and claim ESA (IR) or underlying Carers Allowance becomes payable?

•  ESA (Y) gone so many will get underlying Carers Allowance paid?

•  IB (Y) gone so many will get underlying Carers Allowance paid?
