DWP Fraud

I see, in todays Rightsnet story, that the PermSec of DWP says that fraud is an indicator of the fact that there is “‘... a notable uptick in shoplifting, which may suggest an increasing need to ease financial pressures through undesirable means.’”.

Is he saying that proposed benefit cuts will be directly responsible for a future increase in fraud?

I think we should be told.

I think we should be told.

Perhaps he needs to consider the error rate rather than making scurrilous statements about “fraud”

And of course the wide-open field for third-party fraud and financial exploitation as more and more vulnerable people are forced onto UC.

I think he’s saying (perhaps without realising it) that desperate people will do desperate things to feed themselves/their children.
