I have a couple - gentleman aged 68, wife 65 - wife’s PIP has come up for renewal, and rejected

I’m presuming they’re both in receipt of state pension

My question is - would it be worth exploring AA for the wife, instead of PIP?

admit - I don’t know much about AA - otherwise i’ll MR the PIP and get it back into payment I hope ...

thanks

She isn’t pension age yet - it’s currently 66. So she won’t be getting a state pension. And it will be a PIP MR.

As Rosie W said, pension age is 66 now so they’re a mixed-age couple (one pension age, one working age.) The best way forward is the challenge the PIP decision (MR and then appeal if needed.)

If she was 66 it would probably still be a good idea to do a PIP MR over just applying for AA anyway. AA doesn’t have a mobility component, so if a claimant has any mobility issues they could be losing out on a significant amount of money (and access to other help) by giving up on challenging the PIP decision and claiming AA instead.
