I have a client who is in receipt of irESA, PIP and HB living in supported accommodation. The client wishes to move to another supported accommodation within another local authority which will be paid by making a new claim for HB with the new LA. Would the client be able to continue his claim for irESA or would they have to make a claim for UC. The client is reluctant to make a claim for UC
Unsure at this point whether the client is in receipt of SDP.

He can make a claim for HB in the new authority because it is supported accommodation which is one of the circumstances in which a new claim for HB can exceptionally be made. There is no reason for UC to be in consideration at all, unless your client wishes to claim it or would benefit financially from doing so.

Thanks Elliot,

The client is reluctant to give any information as he does not want to claim UC. I was just unsure as usually a change of LA triggers the claim for UC but as he will be moving into another supported accommodation and making a new claim for HB whether the trigger would still apply.
Thanks again
