Hi,

Does anyone know whether there was an automatic transfer (ie without a review form) for a pensioner who was on MIG on to Pension Credit in October 2003. Also when was the savings limit increased from £ 3000 to £ 6000?

Thanks for you help

Tony

A claim form (PC1) was required to switch from MIG to Pension Credit.  As far as I can recall changes in capital limits were handled automatically.

Thanks Mickd

It’s just that a client claims that he never filled a from in and thinks he automatically went on to Pension Credit. As for the savings limits, I just wanted to know when the saving limit for MIG or PC was increased from £ 3000 to £ 6000? Someone told me that it was sometime in 2001.

Lower limit was increased to £6000 from April 2001.

On second thoughts your client may be correct.  I remeber filling in dozens of claim forms at the time Pension Credit was introduced but this may have been for people who didn’t qualify under MIG but did qualify under Pension Credit.  Existing MIG claimants may have been converted automatically.  Apologies.
