I have a client who lives in a mobile home/static caravan. I am looking at submitting a housing benefit claim for their site fees which Cpag informs me that they can.

I have contacted the local authority housing benefit team who advised me that Client can apply for the ground rent through housing benefit. They also told me that it is not determined under local housing allowance. But they could not tell me what the maximum amount is a claimant can claim or the rules used to detrmine this.

Does anyone know how the maximum ground rent for a static caravan is determined and provide a reference point for me?

Thank you!

The maximum rent for HB purposes will be determined by the Rent Officer.  The LA will refer the rent to the Rent Officer Service and the RO will then inform the LA of the maxuimum eligible rent that can be used when assessing HB.  The LA simply won’t know what the figure will be until the RO has made the determination.
