UC claim with credit only ESA at same time

Hi,

Client was on ESA credit only, claimed UC, ESA credit only has carried on. UC seem confused about this and have put some messages on the journal asking about it.

Any issues here? There is no ESA income so no risk of UC overpayments or anything but is there any other conflicts in terms of NI or anything?

Thanks

No conflict. You can’t get a credit for LCW whilst on UC unless you are actually entitled to ESA, so this client will get the (less useful) NI credit for UC only.  Both equally good for state pension though.

Did the client get LCW/LCWRA status via their credits only ESA claim?

Cheers Will! I am not sure on which group they were in for ESA. I assume it was LCWRA as she does not need to go to the JC or any other work related activities.

Glad there is no conflict.
