DWP have provided me with some statistics about refused UC claims- stubbornly high rates of refusals for claims which are not “process compliant”.

Typically out of 10 claims, 7 result in an award. Of the remaining 3, then 2 are refused as, for example, the claimant has failed to book an interview or attend for claimant commitment.

See here: FOI response

CPAG have concerns that such decisions (refusing claims on procedural grounds such as not booking an interview) do not have a legal basis.
