Universal Credit- The Work Allowance and Statutory Maternity Pay

A quick question, a client is due to complete a Universal credit claim as she will soon be receiving statutory maternity pay of the full £148 per week entitlement.

The gov.uk website states that ‘‘A work allowance is the amount that you can earn before your Universal Credit payment is affected.’’ However no clarity is given as to whether this applies to Statutory Maternity Pay, as the client will still be classed as employed.

When calculating her UC monthly amount, will she receive the work allowance whilst in receipt of statutory maternity pay?

Thanks in advance
