This concerns a joint claim for UC: the Jobcentre was not happy with ID presented for one partner. DWP state that the claimants didn’t get back to them, claimants say that DWP never told them what was needed.

The claim was closed - I am asking for a copy of the actual decision on this, as I think an appealable decision should have been made.  DWP has so far resisted providing this, insisting the claimant must do so even though I have their full authorisation to act.

Instead, just a short statement was put on the Journal that the claim was closed because “You didn’t provide some important information”.

I am now told by DWP that ‘no formal decision made by the decision maker.’

They now suggest that the claimant requests a ‘Written Statement of Reasons’ via their journal.

This cannot be right- claim closed, no ‘formal decision’ - !!!!! Whatever happened to the Regulations - ?

DWP is however starting an MR - even though they have yet to disclose the legal basis of their decision.
