Query regarding when an MR results in a lower award. Does it affect backdated money?

Happy new year. Hopefully just a quick one -

If an MR (or appeal) results in a reduced award does this affect the money already paid to the client? Including any backdated lump sum? It seems logical it would, as the change takes place from the date of the original decision/start of the claim. However (thankfully) I haven’t had seen this happen though so am not 100% sure if this is the case.

Cheers!

It does generate an overpayment but it’s not a recoverable one.

Ah ok. Thanks Dan! Good to know

Do people get a letter mentioning the overpayment or anything? or do DWP just deal with it internally?
