Hi all,

We’ve got a client who is 16 years old and sadly his mother passed away. He has succeeded the tenancy and his father has moved in as a dependant of the son and is in employment. We are a full service area and had the dad not moved in, we could see UC entitlement but struggling to see any way for this young lad to claim anything. He has employment through an employability fund which pays £55 a week plus travel. Does anybody have any idea about avenues we can explore to help?

Thanks,

EDIT: changed dependant to non-dependant.

I think you are probably right, other than the father moving out again..

One point, you have said the father has moved in as a dependent but is working?? Do you mean non-dependent, if the father is genuinely a dependent due to severe disability and the son has substantial caring commitments could Reg 8(1)(c) UC Regs 2013 apply?

Do you mean non-dependant?

Apologies, I meant non-dependant.
