Universal Credit: further information for couples
This was just published the other day -
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/universal-credit-and-couples-an-introduction/universal-credit-further-information-for-couples
And notes -
5. If one of you is currently on benefits
You will not be able to receive Universal Credit if one of you receives Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Incapacity Benefit (IB), Severe Disablement Allowance (SDA), Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Personal Independence Payment (PIP).
Any ideas why DLA or PIP would stop you getting UC?
It was only updated the other day - I can’t see when it was first published.
But you’re right - there is information that is wrong on that page - not just what you point out - eg it says you can’t be in full-time education, have to be 18 or over. And on the benefits point, if you’re in a full service area you can claim when receiving any of those benefits - it’s just it will cause any means-tested ones to stop.
I wonder if it started life as a page for those in the live service and hasn’t been updated properly?
I’ll bring it to the attention of UC communications…
[ Edited: 10 Apr 2018 at 10:01 am by Daphne ]Intriguingly both the phone numbers listed are the free phone numbers for live service UC claimants, as opposed to the UCFS free phone numbers, as is the phone number listed in the newly published Universal Support guidance 18/19 link below.
Just had an email through to say it’s being updated - if you go on the page and click on ‘see all updates’ and then ‘show all updates’, it confirms that - so at least they’ve listened :) (it also shows it was first published in June 2014 - so it was written about live service)
edit - it now says it’s been taken down - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/universal-credit-and-couples-an-introduction/universal-credit-further-information-for-couples - and they’ve thanked us for pointing it out so if there are any others let me know…
