DWP offices Xmas and New Year arrangements

We’ve probably all had the coms from DWP about the Xmas and New Year opening times and payment arrangements, which assure people:
“Universal Credit customers will receive their December payment within their usual 7-day payment period.
Payments will not be delayed due to the Christmas and New Year public holidays.”

But isn’t that for existing awards? If someone claims UC now, wouldn’t they have the ‘normal’ (6 plus weeks) delay in payment?

Yes because that’s not a delay - that’s an on-time payment under the rules as they are now!
