letter regarding ESA rates in November - quick question

Hey,

I keep seeing/have people tell me about letters from ESA that say that the client’s benefits rate will be applicable from XX date to November. I am clearly missing something really obvious here but what changes in November? They look like the standard new rate letters that come around April but I can’t see why the rate would change in November.

Thank you

Joel

If ESA is going up by £10 it is just referring to the Christmas bonus. The letters I’ve seen are drafted badly to make it look like an ongoing payment.

hmm ok cheers Billy. I will double check what it says carefully. Yeah it seemed to imply the rates will change again in November after already rising as standard in April.

DWP do like to make things unclear in their letters.

From memory they say X amount until 30.11.17 then X amount +£10 from 01.12.17. If we are talking about the same letters…

Yep got the client to read it out to me and I am 99% certain it’s exactly what you describe. It does read a bit like that £10 is ongoing to I can see where the confusion lies!

Cheers
