Initial JCP appointment
If someone claims UC and is not well enough to attend JCP for initial interview then what process is in place to allow claim to proceed? thinking ahead to our Macmillan clients who are often very unwell / in the middle of chemotherapy. Recollection that visiting officers were promised early on in the UC roll out process, does anyone know if this is working?
Yes visiting officers. You ask for one on the helpline. I know of two cases where this has happened. Might be worth flagging up if it is the case that client also unable to attend subsequent interviews.
Bit of guidance that refers to home visits:

which says:
If necessary a home visit can be considered when a claimant is unable to attend the office. See Home visits
