Does anyone know if UC will have the same policy on overpayments as tax credits when someone disputes the fact that they have been overpaid (at all, or disputes the amount)  - that is, suspending recovery during the MR and appeal process?

I’ve looked in COP1 and in the ADM chapter on o/ps but neither is specific on this.

As they have complete power to recover having made the ‘you’ve been overpaid’ decision I’m guessing suspension could always be requested on a discretionary basis, but it would be nice to have a policy statement. If anyone knows whether there is one (possibly in debt management guidance?) be good to be pointed towards it.

DWP staff guide - Benefit overpayment recovery guide - updated today, says policy is for no suspension of overpayment recovery pending outcome of an MR or appeal in universal credit cases (para 4.15) unlike for other benefits (para 4.25).
