Hi,

Do the special rules not work for UC?

Can’t find anything about this - seems odd that my client is not able to claim ESA, full service area and would be IRESA, and so while the DS1500 is useful for PIP there seems to be nothing for UC?

Many thanks in advance.

Special rules should work for UC. There should be no waiting period and entitlement to the LCWRA element. See P247 in CPAG handbook.
I suspect that this is one of the elements that has not really been tested in live service areas.

See p 246 and p994 of Welfare Benefits and Tax Credits Handbook 2016/17 - so yeah, still exist. See schedule 8 and 9 of UC Regs.

Someone forgot to cut them?

Unlike DWP to miss an opportunity for cruelty!

I must admit that was in mind, which was perhaps why I didn’t look hard enough, expecting them to have been chopped.
