Well it is Friday…....

I’ve just been on the phone to the DWP helpline (21 minutes on hold since you ask) to chase up an IS10 form sent from Edinburgh on 10th August which the claimant hasn’t heard anything about yet.  I’ve managed to confirm that it’s been received and is noted as being scanned onto the system on (wait for it) 31st August.

Advised that this is due to mail being backed up because all the DWP mail is scanned in Wolverhampton and this covers the whole country.

I’m assuming that there’s a backlog because there’s no-one available for and seeking work in Wolverhampton and surrounds, because surely a way to resolve the backlog issue would be to employ staff to do the scanning.

Although then who would process I guess…........as it’s now been scanned for a clear 15 days with no progress.

Even more depressing - one of my colleagues has 2 applications outstanding from early July.

I despair…...................................

if you have a copy saved, call escalation line and they will give you an email address. They are very good in Clydebank office…
