Quick question - UC or ESA in full service area when already on JSA?

Hi,

If client lives in full service area obviously new claims for IR ESA can’t be made, is the same true if the client is currently already claiming IR JSA?

Thanks

They can stay on ibJSA as already on it - but they can’t make a new claim for ir ESA - it would have to be UC.

if they have only been on JSA for, say 12 months, and were paying NI from April 2015 to March 2017 they could claim new style ESA instead of or as well as UC.

Client was street homeless for years so no recent working history unfortunately. Fair point though, definitely worth checking if this is an option for people
