BBC News reporting that Cardiff Citizens Advice Bureau is to close by the end of the month with the loss of 12 jobs.

The independent organisation which runs the offices in Castle Street has become insolvent but this has not been put down to a lack of funding. The Chair of the Trustees said “It’s not a question of purely running out of cash. It’s not through a lack of funding. It’s just a whole amalgam of circumstances.”

An interim service will be managed by the Vale of Glamorgan CAB, working with Rhondda Taff, Caerphilly and Newport CABs, he said.

Discussions were under way to see if a replacement face-to-face service for people needing advice could be provided in the city from next month.

People are advised they can contact the bureau in the normal way, or contact the Citizens Advice telephone service on 08444 772020.
