Deliberate Deprivation of Capital

Hi

I suspect that the answer is no, but wanted to check if there is any kind of hardship payment available to someone who is found to have deliberately deprived themself of capital?
I am working with a single parent with two young children (one under school age).  She inherited around £35,000 5 months ago and now has nothing left.
She does have grounds to appeal (did not deprive to increase entitlement to benefit, has mental health problems) but this will take time and she has nothing to live on.  She is also on verge of eviction due to rent arrears.

Thanks in advance.

There aren’t any hardship payments as such for this situation, but things to consider are:
- Household Support Fund
- Local Welfare Assistance
- Food Bank
- Discretionary Housing Payment
- Asking landlord to use forbearance
- Expediting appeal
- Maximising other benefits, eg PIP?
- Help from Children’s Services?

Thanks Helen

I have all of these on my radar (except DHP which I didn’t think was payable unless there is some housing element in payment)
