Overpayment write off

Back in the good ole days there used to be guidance on here that discussed when recoverable overpayments could be written off.

It’s not there any more.

Does anyone have any up to date information, other than “forget it”

I know, I know, but I have a truly exceptional case wher DWP have just started recovering an old OP and I’m going to try to persuade them not to recover.
