New HMRC statistics also show that almost 3 million individuals received a grant from the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme
Almost 11 million people were furloughed over the lifetime of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, according to new HMRC statistics.
In Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme statistics: 16 December 2021 - the final release of statistics relating to the scheme - HMRC provides an overview of the CJRS since its introduction at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic up to its closure on 30 September 2021.
NB - HMRC comments that, as the deadline for amending claims for September 2021 was 28 October 2021, the data is considered complete although in a small range of specific circumstances, late claims and amendments can be made with a reasonable excuse and in agreement with HMRC.
