New Rules for claiming ESA pending an appeal

Hi,

Is anyone aware of the new rules that have come in this week regarding claiming ESA after MR decision and pending an appeal?

Apparently, instead of the benefit centre reinstating the old claim, appellant must make a new claim with fresh sick note. I queried if the appellant needed deteriorating conditions or additional diagnosis and was told no, not for the appeal rate.

Anyone read up about this?

Unless I’ve missed something fundamental it sounds like someone at the contact centre has the wrong end of the stick to me.

I concur, it doesn’t sound right to me either. If it’s not in writing from a reputable source and I haven’t heard it before, I’ m inclined to disbelieve it.
