Nor for profit advice services and charging for services - new Legal Services Board guidance
Following a consultation by the Legal Services Board (LSB) in 2012, on the ability of not for profit advice services to employ solicitors and to charge for their services, the LSB has now announced that:
• the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) should remove the current ban on charging by not for profit bodies; and
• the current transitional protections (allowing not for profit bodies to carry out reserved legal activities outside the scope of regulation) will not end until at least 2015 as there is not yet an appropriate regulator for the sector.

With thanks to ASA consultancy and training for highlighting the response.
