This event is free for all advisers working in advice centres in London, as well as managers and trustees. The day commences with a keynote speech from Andy Slaughter (Shadow Justice Minister) and Tony Travers (LSE - to be confirmed), before a variety of workshops on issues such as commissioning for value, electronic debt advice, welfare reform update, life after legal aid, discrimination issue, effective social policy and more. The day will be wrapped up by a panel advice looking at the future of advice services in London, with Liz Barclay chairing and Hilary Norman (Cabinet Office), Bharat Mehta (Trust for London), and Lord Bach confirmed for the panel.

Just to say that we’re full up tomorrow, so if you’re name’s not down, you’re not coming in, I’m afraid.

Great day today, lots of ideas and enthusiasm for thinking about how we make sure the value and the need for advice services is highlighted. Great speakers, interesting and informative workshops and lots of networking for everyone who came along.

Here are some links to audio interviews with some of the participants, and we’ll be sharing more of the content in a few days, when I’ve recovered from it all!!

What are the challenges faced by the Independent Advice Sector? Delegates speak

Andy Slaughter, Shadow Justice Minister

What is the role of the independent advice sector? Steve Hynes, Director Legal Action Group

Why stories are at the heart of the survival of the Independent Advice Sector: Liz Barclay

Happy listening.
