Passed by both Houses, but yet to receive Royal Assent .... the Investigatory Powers Act 2016 (here in Bill form) will ostensibly -
... make provision about the interception of communications, equipment interference and the acquisition and retention of communications data, bulk personal datasets and other information; to make provision about the treatment of material held as a result of such interception, equipment interference or acquisition or retention ...
Maybe not surprising that the list of ‘relevant public authorities’ at schedule 4 include the DWP, HMRC and MoJ (and their equivalents in Northern Ireland)
