is it possible to get a transcript or recording of an ATOS assessment?
During her assessment, several of the questions were directed to and answered by my client’s mother. My client wishes to argue that she “needs prompting to engage with other people”.
The ATOS report makes no mention of her mother being present or of her mother’s contribution to the discussion. Are the assessments routinely recorded and / or are transcripts available?
In short - no. The only record of the assessment will be the paper medical report unless a recording is specifically agreed in advance.
I wouldn’t worry too much about it - if it reaches Tribunal and there is an oral hearing, the Tribunal will be able to observe the conversational support offered by mum first hand regardless of what the medical says.

I wouldn’t count on it. I attended a tribunal recently where the claimant was distraught and in tears throughout the hearing. She never looked at the panel and her husband answered 70% of the questions as she was unable to.
The Statement of Reasons stated the claimant maintained good eye contact and answered all questions clearly. When I read it I though they must have sent the wrong one.
Thanks alot for the responses.
