Carers Allowance and implicit consent
Is it just me or does the CA unit have a very funny take on how implicit consent works?
Twice I’ve had to speak to them recently and both times I’ve had a struggle to get any info out of them.
I think it’s just you Dan 😊
They obviously like me.
I do sound like a Northern thug on the phone; considering they’re in Chorley it shouldn’t come as a surprise though.
Nah, they have history on this. I’ve had some fantastically bizarre conversations with them over the years. Off the top of my head I can recall:
- there’s no such thing as implied consent questions.
- we only speak to claimants.
- the Carers Allowance caselaw you have cited does not exist.
- Caselaw does not apply to us.
I think it’s where BEL staff go to retire 😊
My favourite - “We can only tell you one thing if it’s implicit consent”. Which I’ve now heard several times. In their heads apparently needing to know three things = three phone calls..
