not qualified to do assessment

In the last couple of months in my team we’ve had 2 claimants for ESA go for their medical assessments only to be told that the HCP was not ‘qualified’ to do the assessment and so it couldn’t continue and a new date would have to be made. the first was because he was blind and the second was because he has cerebral palsy.

surely ATOS have information about the claimants and should know who can assess who
what a waste of money, time, patience etc etc
has this happened to anyone else?
is this a trend?
any thoughts?

I don’t disagree, but given that the typical practice has been to say “I’m not qualified to do this assessment… but how about I give it a punt anyway?” perhaps we should take it as progress…

Are ATOS still doing ESA assessments?

Might well be something to do with this…

https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/list_of_dr_only_conditions#incoming-399043

read to the bottom for the list; the link’s got gaps in if I link to the list itself.
