Could anyone advise on the conditionality a claimant would be subject to if he/she becomes sick before having a work capability assessment?

In other words, how does UC treat someone who would currently be in the ESA assessment phase? Will a work search requirement and work availability requirement be applied? Is it correct to say that no work search requirement should be applied if cl self-certifies sickness for seven days then provides fit note? What about work availability?

under s21 of the Welfare Reform Act 2012 - a person is only restricted to work preparation if they have limited capability for work. So while waiting for the assessment a claimant is subject to all work-related requirements. However, your client can negotiate on the claimant commitment and limit their requirements under reg 97 of the UC Regs because they have a physical or mental impairment.
