missing giro
Tue 15-Jun-04 08:58 AM

Missing giro again. Has anyone got a copy of the Walsh v Bromley judgement and/or the missing paymenst guide? Can't find either. My fax number is 029 20871358.
Interestingly, when I asked DBC which regulation they were using to withhold a replacment giro until they trace the old one, I was told that they don't have copies of the law there and advised I would need to go to CAB or a library for that sort of thing.

I wish I could say I am amazed they told you that....but not anymore - I would have suggested (In the most diplomatic manner of course) that:

A. If they didn't know the regulation, then what authority did they have to withold benefit and:

B. They not only have access to their own Intranet, but also to a multitude of Internet resources - they should access those just as we do.

As an afterthought, maybe they should also read the report on customer satisfaction, or otherwise, with JCP, (See Rightsnet news). Since the announcement of the proposed redundancies within the DWP, we have noticed a subtle shift in attitudes from within some offices - hardly surprising really I suppose.....

The case is Walsh v DSS. The reference to 'Bromley' is because it was heard at Bromley County Court. Have faxed a copy.

Thanks for the transcript.
