Uprating of maximum amount of statutory sick pay that can be reclaimed by small and medium-sized employers

New statutory instrument

New regulations have been issued which uprate the maximum amount of statutory sick pay (SSP) that can be reclaimed by small and medium-sized employers.

In force from 6 April 2021, the Statutory Sick Pay (Coronavirus) (Funding of Employers’ Liabilities) (Amendment) Regulations and the Statutory Sick Pay (Coronavirus) (Funding of Employers’ Liabilities) (Northern Ireland) (Amendment) Regulations 2021 (SI.No.281/2021) amend SI.No.512/2020 and SI.No.513/2020 - which provide for certain small and medium size employers to reclaim some, or all, of their SSP costs from HMRC where the employee's incapacity is related to Covid-19 - to increase the maximum amount of SSP that can be claimed to £192.70 in line with the maximum rate of SSP that can be paid.
