New statutory rule adds a person who has been notified to self-isolate due to contact with a person infected with COVID-19 to list of qualifying people

New regulations have been issued in relation to people who are deemed to be incapable of work for the purposes of statutory sick pay in Northern Ireland.

In force from 28 May 2020, the Statutory Sick Pay (General) (Coronavirus Amendment) (No. 4) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2020 (SR.No.89/2020) amend the Schedule to the Statutory Sick Pay (General) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982 to provide that a person who has been notified that they have had contact with a person with coronavirus (COVID-19), and who is self-isolating for 14 days from the latest date on which that contact occurred, or a date specified in the latest notification, will be deemed to be incapable of work.
