‘Move to universal credit’ pilot in Harrogate temporarily suspended due to coronavirus outbreak

DWP says that it will not engage with any new claimants, and any migration notices issued to claimants who have not yet moved to universal credit have been withdrawn

The 'Move to universal credit' pilot in Harrogate has been temporarily suspended as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, according to the DWP Universal Credit Engagement Team.

In a letter today, the DWP updates stakeholders on the Harrogate pilot, reporting that - 

'I am pleased to let you know that through the work coach face-to-face model we’ve been testing, we have found we have been able to provide claimants with the support they need in order to make the transition as smooth and easy as possible. All claimants who have moved across have been paid their universal credit in full, and on time. For a very small number of claimants whose entitlement under universal credit was lower than their legacy entitlement, we have also successfully calculated and paid their transitional protection.'

However, as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, the letter advises that the pilot has been temporarily suspended and that, for the time being, the DWP -
