Government issues further Treasury Direction in relation to the coronavirus Self-Employment Income Support Scheme

New Direction follows Chancellor's announcement that the scheme is being brought to an end, with those eligible able to claim a final grant in August 2020

The government has issued a further Treasury Direction in relation to the coronavirus Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS).

Further to the Treasury Direction published on 1 May 2020 that set out the legal framework for the SEISS, the Chancellor has made a further Direction under section 71 and section 76 of the Coronavirus Act 2020 to reflect the extension of the Scheme and its planned closure date.

NB - delivering the daily COVID-19 press briefing on 29 May 2020, the Chancellor announced that the SEISS would be brought to an end, with those eligible able to claim a final grant in August 2020.
