We deliver the aims and principles of Citizens Advice by offering a comprehensive service of information, advice, advocacy and representation, and by working actively for change in the policies and practices of organisations that impact on the lives of our clients.

We are currently recruiting for a Welfare Benefits Caseworker Supervisor to join our team. The role involves delivering welfare benefits advice up to specialist level in a mental health setting and managing a team of welfare benefits caseworkers.

We are looking to recruit someone with the following qualities:

  1. A minimum of two years recent, relevant experience in welfare benefits advice work and representation. Experience of representing clients at the First Tier Social Security Tribunal is essential and representation at the Upper Tribunal (Administrative Chamber) is desirable.
  2. Knowledge of another area of social welfare law such as housing or debt is desirable
  3. Ability to undertake specialist casework and manage caseload
  4. Ability to research, analyse and interpret complex information
  5. Ability to plan and prioritise own work and meet deadlines
  6. Experience of managing and supervising others is essential
  7. Experience of liaising with funders/commissioners is essential
  8. Experience of working with volunteers is desirable
  9. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  10. Effective written and oral communication skills
  11. Excellent IT skills
  12. Commitment to effective team working
