Location: Skipton, North Yorkshire (but with remote working available)
Salary: £30,500 to £34,500 depending on experience
Contract: Permanent (6 months’ probationary period)

We're looking for an experienced welfare benefits adviser to be a key player in our dedicated and hard-working Information and Advice Team.

Using your detailed knowledge of benefits and excellent communication and written skills, you will provide second tier advice on complex benefit issues to our customers and be responsible for writing and updating the content on our information website.

You will research and decipher benefits legislation and policy and be able to understand the implications for claimants and for landlords.

You will be passionate about making a difference and contribute to our broader work to deliver the resources our customers need to support benefit claimants.

About us

Housing Systems began as hbnotes in 2005, providing a website on Housing Benefit for social housing providers, to enable them to sustain tenancies and maximise their tenants’ income. We now have over 300 subscribers including voluntary agencies and charities who benefit from our expertise in Universal Credit, Housing Benefit and other benefits.

Our aim is to be a force for good, helping our users provide sound, up to date advice and information to their customers. The Housing Systems website incorporates a number of resources including benefit calculators, standard letters, flowcharts, mapping tools, summary sheets and leaflets.

We also provide training in the form of workshops, e-learning, webinars and blended learning.

About you

You’ll be a team player, working collaboratively with colleagues across the company, but be self motivated and able to work on your own.

You’ll have a quick and analytical mind, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be hardworking and committed to Housing Systems’ values.

Experience in, and a good knowledge of Universal Credit is essential, as is a commitment to help our subscribers prevent and solve their clients’ / tenants’ benefit issues.

You will have the choice of working in the office or remotely from home, but there will be times when we would like you to come into the office to work.

Should you be successful at the first stage we will send you a short exercise to return to us by Wednesday 15th December, and we’ll invite you to a Zoom interview on Friday 17th December where we will find out more about you and you will be asked questions about the exercise.

The final stage will be a face to face interview at our office in Skipton in early January 2022.
