This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a newly established Financial Inclusion Team, increasing Southdown’s financial capability offer to clients accessing our services. The aim of the team is to ensure that the organisation is best placed to provide effective specialist support, equipping individuals with the skills and knowledge to be prepared for the roll out of universal credit, to claim the correct benefits, to manage their claims on line, to be digitally capable and safe and to improve their budgeting skills.
Financial Inclusion Officer role
We are looking to appoint two Financial Inclusion Officers, who will, as part of this central Financial Inclusion team, carry out central functions such as covering the dedicated telephone line, developing and delivering welfare benefit, financial and digital capability training, and maintaining a Financial Inclusion Intranet page.
Alongside working within the Financial Inclusion Team you will also work within Southdown’s West Sussex Homelessness Prevention Service or our Supported Employment service. You will provide specialist support to both staff and clients/tenants, to enable them to increase their financial and digital capability to empower them to develop the necessary skills to successfully;

You will have excellent communication skills which will enable you to explain complex information, support clients/tenants in a way that promotes equity and empowerment, and create strong links with relevant information and advice services.
Southdown’s West Sussex Homelessness Prevention Partnership provides a range of support to prevent people, and their families, from becoming homeless. We provide pre-tenancy and floating housing support, supported accommodation and specialist targeted services. Our Housing Support Officers are based in the community, Local Authority Housing Options Teams and NHS Acute Settings (mental health teams).
