Non-Executive Board Members – National Roles

As a Board Member for Reside Housing Association, you will make a significant contribution to this highly successful charitable registered society and national provider of supported living accommodation. During its 16-year history, Reside has been assisting and promoting empowerment and independence in the community for a wealth of people with disabilities, particularly those with a learning disability, enduring mental health problems and/or acquired brain injury. Reside provides everyday homes within the community, regardless of the support a group or individual may require, with an emphasis on creating safe and homely environments. Reside is growing at an impressive trajectory and is embarking on a vital new chapter. In response, the Board is looking to appoint two new members who can continue the growth and success of the organisation.

The new Board Members will support Reside to help meet the challenges ahead and achieve its vision and strategic plan for 2022. With a clear empathy for the values and mission of the organisation, you will challenge and support your Board Member colleagues and work with the executive team to ensure that when a decision is reached it is the right one for both Reside and its tenants. That means knowing and positively promoting Reside’s work and values, as well as working to the highest levels of probity, integrity and governance. You will share your vast knowledge of business practice, governance and wider strategy to provide real insight and make sound commercial and ethical decisions.

As an inspirational, progressive leader, you will be a strategic thinker and have the planning expertise, together with a proven record of insight, judgement and decision making, ideally at Board level, to turn vision into reality. With your highly effective collaborative team working style and excellent communication and influencing skills, you will have an enviable track record of commercial and/or public sector experience ideally, though not essentially, gained in social care, with an understanding of the needs of the Reside tenant base, commercial residential property estate management, including leasing contracts and negotiations, or housing association finance, preferably with an accountancy or auditing qualification. HR, commissioning or information technology are also of relevance.

Commitment will be a minimum of 10 days per year and will deliver a clear opportunity to provide vital support in a growing and forward thinking organisation that makes an impact on people’s lives.
