18.5 hours a week
Grade 9 (£25,753 - £27,629) Pro rata
Location: Ripley, Derbyshire
Deadline: 5 December, 2021
An opportunity has arisen in our Benefits Advice for People Living with Cancer project, delivered in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support.
Derbyshire County Council Welfare Rights Service is committed to maximising the benefits of Derbyshire people. We have a number of teams who work to support social care clients and the wider public to promote and support benefit take-up.
We are looking for an experienced Welfare Benefits Adviser to strengthen the Benefits advice for People Living with Cancer project.
If you have excellent skills in advocacy, negotiation and communication, and recent experience in representing at appeal tribunals we would like to hear from you. You will have the opportunity to work directly with clients, as part of a supportive team and the wider group of Macmillan professionals. You will also work closely with partners within the NHS and local authorities to ensure clients receive an effective service.
Although the base for this post is Ripley, all staff are currently working at home as much as possible. However, the service covers the whole county of Derbyshire and in more normal times the role will involve some travel around the county.
Due to this post having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, candidates will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.
