Do you want to make a positive impact on people’s lives? Our Advice Service exists to improve opportunities and reduce poverty in Bradford. You will work as part of a busy team and with partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes for clients, delivering excellent customer service.

We are looking for an experienced Welfare Rights Advice Practitioner to join our team. You will have excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills and be adept at handling emotional and complex situations in an empathic and professional manner.

You will have an excellent and up-to-date knowledge of welfare benefits, debt advice, housing and income maximization. Supporting clients to apply for benefits and other support they are entitled to, you will empower them to take action on their own behalf where appropriate. You will have demonstrable experience in welfare benefits casework and procedures relevant to welfare benefits and debt advice, to inform and advocate for clients.

You will be committed to professional development and will work towards an OISC Level 1 in Immigration Advice (unless already qualified). You will have strong IT and organisational skills, meet targets and be willing to use a triage based approach.

You will demonstrate an understanding of Adult and Child Safeguarding issues and a willingness to learn and follow local safeguarding procedures and protocols. You will undertake work remotely and in the office, and be willing to travel between outreach venues across the Bradford East parliamentary constituency.

We are forward-looking, ambitious and with a commitment to continuous improvement. We are a people-focused, can-do organisation, which strives for excellence in all we do and operate with mutual respect. If you share these values and behaviours and have the necessary skills then we look forward to hearing from you.

In return, we can offer you flexible working, generous leave entitlements, eye care vouchers, a cycle to work scheme and other great benefits. We have an excellent wellbeing offer and we’ll invest in your professional development with on-going quality training and career development opportunities. You’ll have the opportunity to work in an established, supportive and high-performing service and join an innovative, non-hierarchical organisation that values your opinion and encourages learning.
