New statutory instrument provides that modified notice requirements will now remain in place until 30 June 2021
New regulations have been issued in relation to the period over which modifications to notice of eviction requirements in Wales apply.
In force from 31 March 2021, the Coronavirus Act 2020 (Residential Tenancies: Protection from Eviction) (Wales) Regulations 2021 (SI.No.377/2021) extend the 'relevant period' during which modifications to statutory provisions apply - relating to notices that need to be given in order to seek possession of dwellings made by provisions in schedule 29 to the Coronavirus Act 2020 - so that it expires on 30 June 2021.
NB - from 24 July 2020, SI.No.778/2020 has provided that landlords of assured and assured shorthold tenants in Wales must give tenants six instead of three months notice to end a tenancy, and regulation 3 of SI.No.1044/2020 currently provides that the modifications made by schedule 29 (as amended) have effect in Wales until 31 March 2021.
