Homelessness charities in talks with refuse company to stop more rough sleepers ‘dying in bins’

Inside Housing reports that Streetlink and Broadway are having discussions with waste management company to encourage refuse collectors to check that no one is sleeping in bins before clearing them away following the deaths of at least three homeless people in recent years.

Homelessness prevention and relief: England 2012 to 2013 statistics

Whilst new DCLG statistics show that the most common action taken to prevent homelessness by local authorities was the use of landlord incentive schemes to secure private rented sector accommodation, figures also show a 5 per cent decrease in those assisted in this way since 2011/2012.

Housing and Regeneration Act 2008 (Consequential Amendments to the Mobile Homes Act 1983) (Wales) Order 2013 replicates the amendments made to the Mobile Homes Act 1983 in relation to England by the Housing and Regeneration Act 2008 (Consequential Amendments to the Mobile Homes Act 1983) Order 2011.
